It didn’t take very long for newly acquired outfielder, Collin Cowgill to make an impression amongst New York Mets fans. Anyone whose playing style is compared to Lenny Dykstra has the chance to a fan favorite in Queens. With a 2-for-2 performance on Saturday, and two more hits on Sunday, the Mets twitterverse was ready to embrace #MoreCowgill:
It’s not just the fans, after an RBI double gave the Mets a 1-run lead, Cowgill showed his aggressive style scoring all the way from second when Nationals first baseman booted a routine grounder, prompting David Wright to ask for #MoreCowgill:
“I’m pretty impressed with what I’ve seen so far,” Collins said of Cowgill, according to Adam Rubin of ESPN New York. “Early in camp I was anxious to see him play. He’s exactly what people have told me about him. He plays hard — aggressive at the plate, aggressive on the bases.”
While production is the ultimate judge, his style of play will surely make him a fan favorite in Queens. It’s only been two days, but Mets fans are ready to embrace #MORECOWGILL.
