Mets met with Red Sox regarding Dickey

According to Joe McDonald of ESPN, the Mets and Red Sox met today to discuss R.A. Dickey.

The Red Sox met with Mets to talk about possible trade for R.A. Dickey, according to a baseball source. Mets want Bogaerts and Bradley, Jr.

Jim Callis of Baseball America lists Bogaerts and Bradley as Boston’s top two prospects.

Alderson definitely appears to be shooting for the stars when it comes to the players he would apparently require in a deal for Dickey.  Normally I’d say he’d be hard pressed to wrestle away a teams top prospect or two but he did get Zack Wheeler for a few months of Carlos Beltran’s services two years ago, so who know what he will land for Dickey.

Earlier this afternoon Jayson Stark tweeted that the team was getting serious about moving their Cy Young award winner:

Sources say #Mets have gotten “serious” about trading R.A. Dickey as soon as this week. #Rangers & #Royals seen as most logical fits.
