I am not going to spend much time talking about tonight’s horrendous 5-2 loss to the Nationals, and I’m not going to focus on moral victories, because there is no such thing right now. Instead I’m going to complain. I’m going to complain about how every time I wait to invest myself into this team, they let me down.
I enjoyed the crap out of the first half of the season, watching as a bystander, following a good baseball team with no expectations. But once you become a good baseball team, you need to REMAIN a good baseball team and that is not happening right now. Yes, the Nationals are a good team, and so are the Braves and Dodgers, but the Mets fans deserve better than a 1-10 mark out of the break.
The trade deadline is coming up and the Mets have done NOTHING to prove to me that they should invest anything in this team right now. I would keep things as is, and hope for the best for the next week, then MAYBE…MAYBE…make a move. But I’m no longer excited about the brand of baseball I’m seeing…no matter how many pinch hit homers Jordany Valdespin hits.
This team raised it’s own bar, and now they need to live up to their billing…
Let’s wake up fellas…
