Amazin’ Pitching Continues As Mets Take Third In A Row From Cards

The Mets have taken their third consecutive game from the St. Louis Cardinals, with only tomorrow’s game keeping them from a four-game sweep.  So far in this series the Mets have outscored the World Champs 19-1 through three games…UNREAL.  This has been the most amazing weekend for Mets pitching.  Two complete game shutouts, one ho-hitter and a 10 strike-out performance in the only non-shutout performance.  If that isn’t amazing pitching, I don’t know what is.

Tonight Jonathon Niese was great, going 6 innings and striking out 10.  Despite this amazing pitching, there was some offense to talk about tonight, as Kirk Nieuwenhuis drove in 3 (two on a homer) and Andres Torres pitched in with a huge two-run triple.  The only other run the Mets scored was driven in by Lucas Duda in the first inning, which really set the tone for the game.  Tonight, the entire team brought it to the Cards and showed a National TV audience what Mets fans already know, that this team is for real.

Tomorrow, the Mets go for the four-game sweep of the Cardinals when they send Dillon Gee to the hill against Kyle Lohse, in the matinee finale at the Citi at 1:10 pm.
