Add Terry Collins to the list of people close to the game who are coming up with a somewhat unanimous opinion about New York Mets rightfielder Lucas Duda. The 26-year-old hit his 4th homer Grapefruit League homer against the Braves yesterday and has put together quite an impressive Spring.
Consider Mets manager Terry Collins among those impressed, as TC spoke about his opening day right fielder after the game:
I think Lucas Duda is going to be a dynamic talent. Obviously he’s power supreme. I just believe that he’s getting very, very comfortable with the fact that he’s a major league player and that he belongs here and that he can hit here. He’s already shown us that he can hit lefties. He can hit righties. He can hit the ball out of the ballpark. And what you’re seeing with some of his home runs is why I think the reconfiguration of Citi Field is going to be a big difference for him.”
Collins joins Ike Davis and Carlos Beltran who have also come out this Spring and said that they believe Duda can be a star in this league. I’m all aboard the Duda train as to me there is no higher praise than earning the respect of your peers, something Lucas is well on his way to securing. I’ve even put my fantasy baseball season on the line by penciling the Big Ox into my outfield, much to the dismay of @VinnyCartiglia !
