So, while I know most people are down on the Mets, so far I am pretty happy with what they’ve done this off season (minus that whole losing Reyes thing). Their bullpen now looks formidable with Jon Rauch, Frank Francisco and Ramon Ramirez in the fold, and they did it without spending a ton of money and only losing Angel Pagan. Pagan to me, was well worth Andres Torres and Ramirez both financially and in terms of talent/production. That having been said it looks like the Mets aren’t done dealing, and are throwing around a bit of a shocking name for fans to hear…Ike Davis.
Interesting…
I know this sounds crazy, but I would absolutely trade Ike Davis. Why? Because he’s probably the guy on the roster with the best chance to bring back big return for the team. I’m not talking trading Davis in a one-to-one deal (unless for a complete stud). I’m talking trading Davis for a very good player and a prospect (or two), which would allow the Mets to find a place to play Daniel Murphy (1B) while getting an influx of talent. And although I think dealing Ike is worth exploring, when looking at Sherman’s report of the Pirates or Rangers potentially being interested in Davis, I don’t think I’d deal him for anyone not named Andrew McCutcheon. So, while I like the Mets are potentially looking at this option, I don’t know how serious this is, or how possible. In fact…
Either way, I still think that Sandy COULD POTENTIALLY be interested in trading Davis should his doors be blown off by a great deal.
