According to Adam McCalvy of MLB.com, Brewers general manager Doug Melvin has reached out to free agent shortstop Jose Reyes.
“One phone call,” Melvin said, according to McCalvy. “No numbers.”
However, McCalvy goes on to state:
Asked whether there would be more phone calls, or perhaps a face-to-face meeting Between Melvin and Peter GreenBerg during this week’s GM meetings in Milwaukee, Melvin said he has not decided.”
I suspect that now, after news of the Miami Marlins making an official offer to Jose, we will begin to hear of more clubs getting into the mix; such as the Brewers, Tigers, Washington, and maybe even the Phillies. Let’s just hope that the offer Reyes accepts i from the Mets……that is if they ever decide to make one.
