Zach Wheeler has First Rough Outing as a Met

Last night for Single-A St. Lucie New York Mets prospect Zach Wheeler had his first rough outing since coming to the Mets in the trade that sent Carlos Beltran to the S.F. Giants at the trade deadline in late July.  Wheeler allowed four runs on six hits and two walks, while striking out six over 3 2/3 innings of work:

Final line on Zack Wheeler. 3.2 IPs, 5 Hs, 4ERs, 6Ks, 2Ws, 1HBP. #Stluciemets #FSL #mets

According to Whitehead, who is a sports reporter for the TC Palms.com, Wheeler looked sharp early:

Wheeler sharp, but he's tossed 41 pitches thru 2 IPs. #Stluciemets #FSL

Don’t fret, Whitehead believes we can chalk up the outing to a bad start:

@ @ Wheeler has great stuff. I go w/bad outing. Had only allowed 1 run in 10 inns in 2 previous starts vs Bradenton.

Through six starts with St. Lucie, Wheeler is 2-2 with 31 strike outs five walks and a 2.00 ERA spanning 27 innings of work:
